Hello, my chickadees!
{Chickadees are called 'tits' here,
but 'Hello, my tits!' just doesn't have the same ring :) }
How are you?

How are you?
Our weekend was filled with my daughter's birthday celebration
and participating in the Big Garden Birdwatch
I grabbed a cup of tea and we played Yahtzee
but not for long
as we broke into 'Ooh! Did you see that one?! Look!'
and busily made checkmarks on our RSPB birding sheet
Robins, carrion crows, feral pigeons, jackdaw, nuthatch, wren, and ring-necked parakeets
were our counted feathered friends for the day
I was glad we were to count for only an hour, for we could have watched all day!
It really was exciting :)
- plus a nice distraction from my daughter beating the pants off me in Yahtzee -

Although we are in the middle of winter,
it has been mild so far with just a few days of frost
The grass is green, and the daffodils are already coming up!
{ Shhh, don't tell anyone the winters are really mild here
or everyone will move here :) }
Life for me is busy at the moment with school commitments and moving locally in a month(!)
So it is nice to take a little time and journal part of my day here

Okay, now for Post Of The Month Club

I must try and join you, in you post of the month.
ReplyDeleteNow that's the second Robin I've seen this morning...saw one in the mirror...but it wasn't as cute as yours....in fact it was downright bedraggled!! Robx
ReplyDeleteBedraggled? I doubt it, Miss Robynne :)
DeleteWinter arrived late to Poland this year as well. However, now we have a bit of snow and it's been cold for the past few days, -14 and below.
ReplyDeleteWinter has found us now too :) A chilly weekend ahead with possible snow
DeleteI used to do a bit of bird watching when I was in high school for some club I was in. It always amazed me how many birds we saw, and that bird watching could be so fascinating! Glad you got to see so many lovely birdies.
ReplyDeletep.s. I've started a photography link party over on my blog. I hope you will come link-up, for I certainly enjoy all the photos you take! xx
I'll be there!
Deletehahaha - I love your chickadee/tits comment. I gasped out loud. Also, what a great picture you took of that robin. Last week there was a beautiful cardinal in a small tree beside the church parking lot. I tried several times to get a good pic of him, but he was too elusive.
ReplyDeleteI love cardinals - they are just stunning. They don't live here in England :(
DeleteRobins and bluetits are my two favourite birds! I don't see either living in the city, but I do see all the different kinds of tits: blue, coal, etc when I go out into the country.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of that cute robin!
Thank you, Miss Zinnia!
DeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely. The English robins are so much cuter than our American ones. The year we visited the UK, I saw bluetits outside the country house where we stayed. They're so beautiful -- and quite comical. :)
Thanks for hosting and have a great week!
Denise
You too :) And thank you :)
Deletethanks for the opening laugh about the tits. :) and your scenery is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping others would find it funny :) My father-in-law reads this, but I just couldn't resist.
DeleteI just came across your site from Kristy at Quick Succession, and I'm so glad I did. It will be fun to check out lots of links and to read more blog posts here, too!
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Katie! I will visit your blog too :)
DeleteThis is my favourite blog hop-looking forward to visiting all the blogs.
ReplyDeletePS- love the photo of the Robin-so hard to get a good photo of birds, right. That says winter to me!
Robynx
Thank you! Thank you for dropping by ;)
DeleteDaffodils? In January?
ReplyDeleteI know, crazy, right?!
DeleteThanks Laura, I have been behind lately, and read your other post on child delivery a couple of days ago, and didn't comment. I thought it was fascinating especially what they tell you to pack. I'm very grateful for my experience here based on that in terms of luxury.
ReplyDeleteMe too! And I'm very grateful as well. It is hard to imagine a birthing experience differently than it was, but now I can.
DeleteCan you do me a huge favor? Can you delete all but one of my links PLEASE. I was having a hard time with my internet and the result was me linking up here 3 times:( I'm so sorry!
ReplyDeleteWinters have been mild everywhere so far this year, it seems. Your right, everyone probably would move there if they knew the weather was so nice:) Love the photo you took of your walk....so beautiful!
Thank you so much!! :) That was stressing me out..haha!
DeleteI finally figured out to manage the entries. It took almost a year :)
DeleteHappy Birthday to your daughter! Nature is so beautiful! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Happy Turtle!
DeleteWe've had a mild winter here as well... Only the Channel is keeping as apart, so we usually have the same weather... And I bet tonight you're having the first freezing night of the year as we have here... I'm wrapped in a plaid as I blog hop thanks to your club! See how British we've both become, discussing the weather!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Laura!
ReplyDeleteI love the term chickadee and use it often [although your local lingo did give me a giggle], ironically my post this month features a little birdy.
Hoping that the lovely times keep rolling and that February is a fabulous month filled with family, friends and fun.
xx F
Ah, how lovely to follow my fellow (alliteration) fiend, Felicity! Goodness, you are learning so much about English life, Laura - I really applaud your efforts to immerse yourself in it. And thanks for your sweet card which arrived today - smiling in Hobart now ☺. J x
ReplyDeleteHi Laura! I've fallen off the blog wagon..so can't participate at the monthly post club. But just wanted to drop a line to say, that I still love reading your posts and there are lots of awesome blogs linked up. Hopefully I'l be able to join next month!
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this link up! It's a great idea!
ReplyDeleteYou had a successful bird count, didn't you? I could spend the day in the spring just watching for birds. We will participate in our bird count in February.
ReplyDeleteBird watching--what a fun idea! Unfortunately, our normally mild winters have been a bit nippy this year, so I think we'll have to wait for spring. BTW--totally laughed at the alternate name for chickadee--uh, yeah--not quite the same :). Thanks for hosting the party. I'm coming fashionably late...I'll come back later today and visit some links. This party always has some great bloggers!
ReplyDeleteOh, chickadees is definitely nicer. Your comment really made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteWhere are you moving ????
