Hello, my chickadees!
{Chickadees are called 'tits' here,
but 'Hello, my tits!' just doesn't have the same ring :) }

Our weekend was filled with my daughter's birthday celebration
and participating in the Big Garden Birdwatch

I grabbed a cup of tea and we played Yahtzee
but not for long
as we broke into 'Ooh! Did you see that one?! Look!'
and busily made checkmarks on our RSPB birding sheet
Robins, carrion crows, feral pigeons, jackdaw, nuthatch, wren, and ring-necked parakeets
were our counted feathered friends for the day
I was glad we were to count for only an hour, for we could have watched all day!
It really was exciting :)

Although we are in the middle of winter,
it has been mild so far with just a few days of frost
The grass is green, and the daffodils are already coming up!
{ Shhh, don't tell anyone the winters are really mild here
or everyone will move here :) }
Life for me is busy at the moment with school commitments and moving locally in a month(!)
So it is nice to take a little time and journal part of my day here

DeleteWinter arrived late to Poland this year as well. However, now we have a bit of snow and it's been cold for the past few days, -14 and below.

DeleteI used to do a bit of bird watching when I was in high school for some club I was in. It always amazed me how many birds we saw, and that bird watching could be so fascinating! Glad you got to see so many lovely birdies.

Deletehahaha - I love your chickadee/tits comment. I gasped out loud. Also, what a great picture you took of that robin. Last week there was a beautiful cardinal in a small tree beside the church parking lot. I tried several times to get a good pic of him, but he was too elusive.

DeleteRobins and bluetits are my two favourite birds! I don't see either living in the city, but I do see all the different kinds of tits: blue, coal, etc when I go out into the country.

ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely. The English robins are so much cuter than our American ones. The year we visited the UK, I saw bluetits outside the country house where we stayed. They're so beautiful -- and quite comical. :)

ReplyDeleteYou had a successful bird count, didn't you? I could spend the day in the spring just watching for birds. We will participate in our bird count in February.
